Building on the success of the Startup Kafe, SKEMA Ventures held a brainstorming workshop on February 17. Faustin Magnin, president of SKEMA Ventures Raleigh Club, introduced the guest speaker Andrew Poon, VP of sales and marketing at Rendering House.
Rendering House is a virtual house-building company that is disrupting the real estate market. It creates fully tailored solutions to enhance customers’ experience by enabling them to find, design, and buy their dream homes online. At the session, Andrew gave an overview of the origin and development of his company. He presented the assembled entrepreneurial students with an overview of the challenge his company is now facing in growing to the next level: to determine which segment of home buyers to target and how to attract more home buyers to use their service.
The attendees formed teams and developed possible approaches to brainstorm and solve the challenge. After they presented their initial solutions to Andrew, they were given a second challenge: how to develop and implement their selected solution.
At the end of the session, Andrew gave his feedback and evaluation of the solutions. He stated that he had gained valuable insights from the session and now has several ideas to present to his leadership team, thanks to the students’ inputs.
