ColombAge Cohabitation, a startup created by SKEMA Ventures, offers seniors (aged 60 and above) with an unused room at home the opportunity to host a trusted young individual. This arrangement provides seniors with a supportive presence, minor services, and an additional source of income. ColombAge Cohabitation manages the entire cohabitation process, from contract initiation to the conclusion of the living arrangement.
Origin of the project
The idea for our startup arose from a simple observation: more than 2 million seniors are isolated in France, while the housing crisis hits young people hard. Confronted with this issue during our preparatory school years, Jean-Baptiste and I each lived with a host during our studies, providing minor services in exchange and benefiting from very affordable accommodation. Drawing from an incredibly enriching and enlightening experience, both for us and the seniors involved, we decided to create ColombAge Cohabitation, which currently facilitates over 150 intergenerational cohabitations throughout France.
Unique value proposition
Through the precision of our matching process between the young and seniors, we ensure particularly successful cohabitations: every one of our cohabitations is a beautiful story.
The ColombAge group now incorporates an associative dimension with ColombAge Solidarity, an association that promotes intergenerational connections through festive intergenerational events. The association also provides companionship to isolated seniors spending Christmas alone or desiring a warm sharing moment with a trustworthy young volunteer.
