Do you think it is possible to create a startup in 54 hours? Tough? This is exactly what aspiring women entrepreneurs will be doing at the Startup Weekend Women BH on September 14, 15 and 16 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. In these three days, the participants will share their ideas, validate them, create a business model, and present it to an assessment bank.
This is a special edition of the Startup Weekend, a global event hosted by Techstars, focusing on women’s participation. Seventy-five percent of the organizers, mentors, judges and participants at this event will be women. With the number of women entrepreneurs increasing steadily, the event aims to show that women, technology and innovation are closely linked to entrepreneurship.
More than 100 talented entrepreneurs, inspirational businesswomen, aspiring young women entrepreneurs, and a team of brilliant mentors who stand out in the market with their success stories, will come together at the event to contribute to the successful launch of the projects. Men can also participate in the event. But since the focus of the event is on women entrepreneurs, male participation has been limited to 25%.
Process
Would you need to have a technical background or knowledge to take part in Startup Weekend Women? No! Everyone is encouraged to share their startup idea and receive feedback from other participants. Of course, if you are a developer or a designer, it will help in the development of your project. The teams will be formed around the best ideas (determined by voting) and competencies of the participants. Thereafter, 54 hours of business modeling, programming, design and market validation will begin. Mentors will always be around to assist the teams.
